JANE REMOVER CONTINGENCY SONG

Experimental producer Jane Remover releases an aching, 6 minute epic drone track 'Contingency Song'. Following on from their acclaimed 2021 album Frailty, the new track sees them further explore a drawn out shoegaze sound. It's a patiently building soundscape, as beautifully arranged layers of swirling electronic noise ebb in and out of focus as Jane sings in mournful, subtly-effected vocals; creating a distinctly liminal atmosphere, evoking a hazy half-remembered feeling, an unplaceable nostalgia. In their own words the song is about "Preparing for eventual doomsday. Flirting with death. Finding a difference between being dependent and being selfish. Celebration fuels the fire and I don’t have that kind of energy. But I’m not saying I could manage without it. Trying to figure out if everything I do is for the approval of someone else. I’m parked at the house but I stay in my car." -Toby Evans-Jesra
